For a years now, I have had this blog set up. At first I thought I was so committed, posting blogs every 2 weeks – some posts about The Word and some just about random things and I really wanted to make it work but, my heart wasn’t really in it and after a while my number of posts started to die down and I stopped promoting my blog on social media, until I all together just gave up on it.
I then finally decided that I wanted to use this blog as a platform to share God’s Word in a unique and different way, but had not done anything about it. Every once in a while I’d click on the blog link as if just to upset myself thinking about how easy it should’ve been to keep it up and getting angry at myself for not trying harder.
Until I realised what I was missing. Or should I say, who I was missing.
The reason my heart wasn’t really in it and it was looking to be a failure was because God wasn’t in it. I was trying to do it all on my own, but The Holy Spirit is a major factor in ensuring that the things you do are a success.
“But ye shall receive power (The ability to cause changes), after that The Holy Spirit is come unto you.”
– Acts 1:8
Okay, so you may be thinking ‘That’s nice and all but what’s with the name? Shining & Winning? Why?’ Well actually, for a long time my name on social media and such has been ‘SalomeeSAW’ and people would always ask me ‘why SAW? Like the movie? Because you “see” everything?” and I didn’t know why myself so I’d just laugh or say ‘yeah, something like that.’
A while back, I was talking with one of my S.I.C’s (Sisters in Christ) and I mentioned to her that after attending a youth camp in the summer I was seriously considering starting my blog up again and this time with the aid of The Holy Spirit so I know it cannot fail. And we began to speak words about the blog and imagine all the possibilities and great things that could come of it. We may have been acting like we were partly joking, but I knew we both wanted it to be a success. So we continued speaking (over messages) about it, but what she didn’t know is that I began speaking in tongues on my side and I clicked onto the blog page again, deleted all the previous content and started looking for a new theme. I had an idea of the kind of theme I was looking for but I did not know if I would find it amongst the themes that the blog-site offered.
But glory to God, as I continued scrolling down trying to find the right one but even really bothering to preview any until I found a theme called, “The Shine On Theme.” Now this wasn’t really the theme I was looking for and I didn’t plan on keeping it after previewing, but for some reason I decided to preview it and when I tried it out the first thing that came to my mind was the scripture Matthew 5:16,
“Let your light so shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.”
And as soon as I saw this in my mind I knew what the ‘SAW’ at the end of my name stood for – “Shining and Winning”- not for my sake but for the sake of men so they may see me and know that I am of God.
Like it was said above, this blog is for The Word of God to be presented in a unique way and is for all ages and all kinds of people. This blog is designed to advise and illuminate you on not only how the gospel works for you but how you can work for the gospel. I share myself and God through my words.
“God has put in [me] His creative ability and has blessed [me] with the special gift of imaginative power.”
– Rev Dr. Chris Oyakhilome
And just like God needed Abraham to believe and imagine that he would be a ‘Father of many’, God needed me to believe and imagine that I could make this dream work and now that I do, I know that I can.
Thank you.
God bless you and keep Shining & Winning! ✨👑
xoxo
