During my Pastor’s message of the month “Moving Forward”, the most important word for me which I took from it was that we shouldn’t ask God for progress and that we should make it.
“But you, dear friends, use your most holy faith to build yourselves up even stronger.”
– Jude 20a
In that scripture above, it says “build yourselves up”, that means it’s our responsibility to take the building materials God has given to us (His Word) and use that to advance in life, making our story one of success and victory.
God has already given us everything we need, it’s already all inside of us and if we want something, all we have to do is reach in and take it and use it. Through His Word and answering His call, we have been given the ability to do all.
“For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through [a] true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.”
– 2 Peter 1:3
I’m so happy that this was the word of the month because, it was like someone knocked me on the head and was like “Hello, hi? Why have you stopped building? Whose responsibility do you think it is to sort your life out, love?” For a while, I had become complacent and I was just thinking, yeah yeah, no, yeah, God knows what I want to do, he’ll handle it for me.
That’s like being employed and your employer gives you materials and an instruction manual, then you start working but halfway through think, “Oh, the boss knows what needs to be done, he’ll do the rest.” But it’s YOUR job, bloop! The boss has already done his part, the rest is up to you. I was playing myself to be honest lol.
We need to put our faith to work continuously and not lose sight of the bigger plans.
“The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realise what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right.”
– 2 Timothy 3:16
We should use the word of God to build up are lives, to guide us in the right direction and keep us moving forward.
Put your faith to work and make up your mind to win, always.
Don’t choose to be a failure and don’t take your life lightly, God gave His son for us, I’d say that makes our lives pretty important and we should spend our time wisely; helping and inspiring others; spreading the gospel and always, consistently moving upwards and forwards.
Don’t let your story stop here. God always has more instore for you.
“God is able to make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more so that there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty left over to give joyfully to others.”
– 2 Corinthians 9:8
