First Fruit & First Timers
Good Evening Lovelies!
Hope you’ve had a lovely Sunday and a blessed week, I know I have.
#Churchistheplacetobe
In my church today, we had First Fruit Service and no, that doesn’t mean I brought actual fruit to church. So, for those thinking, “So what is first fruit then?” – First Fruit is the first of your income. It’s the First and the Best of what you have to give to God. And is NOT to be taken lightly.
When you have come into the land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance and possess it and live in it, you shall take some of the first of all the produce of the soil which you harvest from the land the Lord your God gives you and put it in the basket…
– Deuteronomy 26:1-2
It is a first of a series of what you want God to continuously give to you, believing and expecting more to come. It’s not like general offering. It’s like when you pay your bills you expect their to be light and your phone to work and all these other benefits of doing so, but you know that if you didn’t pay your bills these things wouldn’t come. Also, paying your bills doesn’t put on the light of the electric company, it puts on your light. So, it’s not like God needs the money but it is us who needs and wants to receive the blessings from giving.
My Pastor, Rev. Dr. Chris Oyakhilome said the way and how much you give is dependent on how much you want to be blessed. You make that decision.
Imagine you are making a deal of some sort and you are told that whatever you give, it is 100% guaranteed that by the end of the deal you will get back ten times that, would you give small or big?
Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and they presses shall burst out with new wine.
Proverbs 3:9-10
Romans 11:16 says, for if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy;and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
That’s another beautiful thing about first fruit: When the first fruit is sanctified, everything else is also sanctified and blessed. This means your set for the year! The first fruit determined the rest of your finances and the direction your finances will go in throughout the year. So, best to plan accordingly and be involved in doing what is right and advantageous and beneficial to you!
Remember that our giving to God is an act of our faith. And we must trust in Him always and trust in His Word. The Word is the truth and by doing what it tells us to, we are doing what is right. It doesn’t matter whether you work or you’re a student, pray about it and God will lead you in the right direction.
Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
Psalm 37:5-7
Speaking of things beginning with F…

The Fishers of Men project is also something important that is going on in my church and other churches around the world and involves us going out to the people of the world and bringing them into to The Word.
So, next week (if you didn’t do it this Sunday) as you’re bringing your first fruit, bring someone to church too and make it mission to bring someone every week. God’s number one concern is Soul Winning and He’s given us the wonderful job of being a part of that.

Happy Sunday 💕
